Long Creek

Here's a few videos and pics I threw together. The first creek is Long Creek in Hercules Glades wilderness area in Taney county. We could have used an exrta 6 inches of water but it was still a really fun run.

Great video. I would like to hear more about long creek. I've never done it, but it looks like it might be a good close run.

Nice work, it's great to see people enjoying things away from the city.

Long Creek is about 10-15 mins from Forsyth where I live. It flows through Hercules Glade wilderness area and is a tributary to Beaver Creek. I'm not real sure on any of the specific statistics, I think it's around 5 or 6 miles long. Not sure of the gradient. There are a couple hiking trails that go down to the creek but they are about 1 1/2 - 2 miles long. The best access is bushwacking off of Blair Ridge Rd., that's only about a .10 mile hike to the creek. (helps to have a topo)

The level we ran it was probably the minimum. We did a little scraping in places, but we only had to portage one rapid, and around one downed tree. I don't personally know anyone else who has ever run it, but I know someone who knows a guy that says he has. It's definately one I'll be doing again the next chance I get.
